Managing Log Files

The event log is a binary file updated by any Mobility component that logs event messages. By default, Mobility events are logged to the nmevent.nel file in the Windows folder.

On the File menu, click Open. You can display a local log file, or one from a different computer.

By default, Mobility events are logged to nmevent.nel in your Windows folder. This is a binary file updated by any Mobility component that logs event messages. You cannot view a text file in the Event Viewer.

When you save an event log, it is saved as a text file. You cannot view the text file in the Mobility Event Viewer, but someone who does not have access to the Event Viewer can open it with any text editor.

On the File menu, click Print. In the Print dialog box, you can choose to print a selection of events rather than the entire file.

On the Edit menu, click Copy. This copies the selected text to the Clipboard. Use the Paste command in another application to add this text to a document.

On the File menu, click Clear Log Events.

This command clears the current event log. New events are recorded at the beginning of the log.
