Human Trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery, defined as any act that involves the recruitment, transportation, harboring, sale, or receipt of persons through coercion, force, abduction, and/or deception or fraud, for the improper purpose of placing them in a situation of forced labor, sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, debt bondage or other slavery-like practice.
The living and working conditions for a human trafficking victim is often unsafe and pose a health risk. They may live with dozens of people in a hotel room, apartment, house, or even their workplace. The victims usually do not have the ability to come and go as they please. They are under constant supervision either directly or remotely. When they have freedom of movement, the trafficker closely monitors and controls them through fear.
