Potholepalooza: Join the effort to keep our roads safe
Potholes pose a significant safety issue, especially during the rainy season. To combat this, DTPW, in partnership with District 8 Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins and District 4 Commissioner Micky Steinberg, DTPW launched "Potholepalooza" in 2023. This innovative program aims to raise awareness and encourage community involvement in identifying and repairing potholes throughout Miami-Dade County.
After a brief pause during the rainy season, Potholepalooza is back, and DTPW crews are ready to repair potholes. From September through November, Potholepalooza is prioritizing work in districts 2 and 11.
Residents in these districts are encouraged to report any potholes they encounter to help us maintain safer and smoother roads by calling 311 or 305-468-5900. Residents can also report potholes online or by downloading the 311Direct app.
Since its inception, Potholepalooza has achieved impressive results. Here is the breakdown from the different time frames we’ve have worked on:
- From April to June, 2023 – Districts 4 and 8 – 560 potholes repaired
- Sept. to Nov., 2023 – Districts 1 and 13 – 175 potholes repaired
- Nov. 2023 to Jan. 2024 – Districts 5 and 9 – 253 potholes repaired
- Feb. to March 2024 – Districts 3 and 7 – 117 potholes repaired
- April to June 2024 – Districts 6 and 10 – 145 potholes repaired
The Potholepalooza program only works if the potholes are reported. Providing as much information as possible ensures that DTPW can locate each pothole. Upon receipt of the report, DTPW crews will make every effort to make the repair within seven days.
The program aligns with the Department's strategic focus, SHIFT305, which is actively moving forward the completion of critical transportation projects and the delivery of services in our community into high gear to improve the quality of life in Miami-Dade County.
