Celebrate Imagine a Day Without Water
Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is commemorating the 10th year of “Imagine a Day Without Water” with a free, community event. Join Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, WASD Director Roy Coley, and other community leaders at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17 at the WASD Douglas Building to highlight how water is essential, invaluable, and in need of investment.
Attendees will be invited to participate in the Drop in the Bucket pledge, reflecting on the many ways they can save water every day, and will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders while enjoying a variety of food from food trucks.
“Imagine a Day Without Water” is a national day of action established by the Value of Water Campaign to raise awareness about the value of water, with the purpose of educating about the importance of water and its treatment and delivery systems.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department knows that water is a critical resource that not only sustains life and the public’s health but is a foundation for public safety and to support a robust economy and thriving community.
To that end, the department has begun the 12th year of its $8.79 billion multi-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for system-wide improvements, which include pipe replacements, system betterments, and infrastructure hardening – also ranks among the largest capital improvement programs in the country.
Reliable access to clean and safe drinking water is critical for communities to be sustainable. Upgrading our infrastructure allows WASD to mitigate the effects of sea level rise, flooding and storm surge and providing our customers with uninterrupted water and sewer services so no one in our community needs to "Imagine a Day Without Water."
It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the WASD website.
