Mobility Configuration, General Tab

Use the following settings to configure network connection options on the Mobility client:

Setting	Description
Show status icon in system tray	The NetMotion Mobility status icon in the Windows system tray of the Mobility client device indicates the status of the connection to the Mobility server. In addition, its shortcut menu includes options for disconnecting Mobility or opening the NetMotion Mobility Client Properties dialog box. If you clear this check box, the Mobility icon will not appear in the system tray. In Windows 7 and later, most icons (including the one for Mobility) are not displayed in the notification area by default. To display the Mobility icon, open the Properties for the Windows taskbar, and then click Customize notification icons. You can choose whether to display the NetMotion tray icon or notifications, or to hide both.
Show warning messages	When this option is selected, the Mobility client displays messages when the client is disconnected from the Mobility server. When this option is cleared no messages are shown.
Load client when Windows starts	When this option is selected the Mobility client attempts to connect to a Mobility server at the same time that Windows starts. Once user authentication succeeds, a secure VPN tunnel is established between you and the resources you access. If you clear this option, the system does not load the Mobility client at system startup and all Mobility features are disabled. Other networking services are still available. This option is only available if you have administrative privileges on the client device.
Connection to server at startup	A setting on the Mobility server determines whether the Mobility client connects to a Mobility server at system startup. When Connection to server at startup is selected in the Override server-specified default setting area, the Mobility client overrides the default startup behavior configured on the Mobility server. • If Connect to server is selected, the Mobility client attempts to connect to a Mobility server at system startup. • If Do not connect to server is selected, network access is available, but the Mobility VPN is not used. If this setting is not available, your system administrator does not allow you to disconnect from Mobility or to override the behavior configured on the Mobility server.
Default credentials	A setting on the Mobility server determines whether the Mobility logon dialog box is pre-populated with user and domain name credentials, or left blank. When Default credentials is selected in the Override server-specified default setting area, the Mobility client overrides the default startup behavior configured on the Mobility server. Specify the credentials with which to pre-populate the logon dialog box: • Mobility user—The credentials that were used for the most recent, successful Mobility logon. • Windows user—The credentials of the Windows user who is currently logged on. • None—No credentials; this setting is useful for shared devices. If this setting is not available, your system administrator does not allow you to override the behavior configured on the Mobility server.
Server name or IP address	The Mobility client attempts to connect to the Mobility server that you specify. If the server participates in a load-balancing server pool, the client will connect to one of the servers in the pool. Choose a Mobility server from the drop-down list of previously specified servers, or enter the fully-qualified domain name or the IP address of the server to which you want to connect. If you have configured the Mobility server to use a port other than the default (5008), specify the port in addition to the server IP address.
