Installing a Certificate on the Mobility Client

The Mobility client needs a digital certificate when Mobility is using PEAP or EAP-TLS for authentication. If the Mobility client is a member of a domain with a configured CA, it may have obtained its trusted root certificate automatically.

On the Mobility client, you can install a certificate issued by a certification authority (CA) such as VeriSign, Thawte, or GeoTrust and retrieved from their web page, or you can install a self-signed certificate.

To retrieve a certificate from a certification authority web page

1.	Open the certification authority web page in a browser.

2.	Select Retrieve the CA certificate or certificate revocation list. Click Next.

3.	Select the certificate file you want to download, and then select Download CA Certificate.

4.	In the File Download dialog box, select Open this file from its current location. Click OK.

5.	In the Certificate dialog box, click the Install certificate button. This opens the Certificate Import Wizard. Select Next.

6.	Select Place all certificates in the following store, and then click Browse.

7.	In the Select Certificate Store dialog box, select the Show physical stores check box. Expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities, and select Local Computer.

8.	When you are done with the wizard a message advises you that the certificate import was successful. Click OK.

9.	In the Certificate dialog box, click OK.

To import an enterprise root certificate

1.	On Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista:

a.	Run Internet Explorer as administrator: right-click the Internet Explorer icon, and then click Run as administrator.

b.	Open Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

c.	In the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Content tab, and then click Certificates.

d.	In the Certificates dialog box click Import.

e.	In the Certificate Import Wizard, click Next. Browse to the folder that contains the certificate file, and then click Next.

2.	On Windows XP:

a.	Copy the certificate file to the mobile device, or, from the Mobility client, browse to the folder on a network or external drive that contains the certificate file.

b.	Right-click the certificate file, and then click Install Certificate.

c.	In the Certificate Import Wizard click Next.

3.	Select Place all certificates in the following store, and then click Browse.

4.	In the Select Certificate Store dialog box, select the Show physical stores check box. Expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities, and then select Local Computer.

5.	When you are done with the wizard a message advises you that the certificate import was successful. Click OK.

6.	In the Certificate dialog box, click OK.

•	Local Computer appears in the Select Certificate Store dialog box only if you are logged on as an administrator.
