Introduction to the Mobility Client > Connecting with Mobility > Disconnecting Mobility

Disconnecting Mobility

When you connect using Mobility, a secure VPN tunnel is established between you and the resources you access. Cryptographic methods are used to establish the identities of the tunnel participants, and then Mobility encrypts information traversing the tunnel during the VPN session.

But you may not always need the secure tunnel, or Mobility may be temporarily unavailable. For example:

If the option to disconnect is not available, the system administrator has configured Mobility to require Mobility clients to always use the mobile VPN.

Assuming the disconnect option is available, there are several ways to turn off the Mobility VPN:

*
In the Mobility Logon dialog box, click Disconnect. This option appears only if the system administrator has chosen to allow users to disconnect from Mobility.
*
On the Windows desktop, right-click the Mobility icon in the system tray and click Disconnect NetMotion Mobility. If the shortcut menu does not offer this option, the system administrator does not allow users to disconnect.
*
1.

Start > Mobility Client

2.
Click Disconnect. If the Status tab does not offer this option, the system administrator does not allow users to disconnect.
